DEATH

Hello guys. Today, I'm starting a new topic for this week: DEATH.

Death is something very curious, but is something very natural. Someday death comes to everyone, being old, young, or even children. It comes in any form, for example, we can get sick of something very serious that cause us death, or it can happens an accident like a fire, a car crash, etc.

When I read the second chapter of the book “Las preguntas de la vida” by Fernando Savater (by the way talks about death), it made me think a lot about this subject. It mentions that people are afraid to die, but why people have that fear? As I mentioned, death is something natural, it will happens to everyone in any moment. Something that also mentioned is that death is individual; it cannot be passed to another person.

Many times we say “You save my life”. In fact, this phrase is wrong because in reality the only thing is that it only prolongs the life, because in any moment you have to die and nobody can escape it, no one is inmortal.

Since we born, since our first day of life, we are in danger of death, we always are close to death. On any day we leave our home like a normal day and we can never come back.

To finish this post, I was navigating in the internet and I found this picture with this little story:

Death stood before a landowner to take him away, indicating his time was up. Then the landowner tried to buy with the half of his fortune an hour of time of his life, but death refused to accept the deal. Then he made a second offer: all his fortune for one minute more of life. The death’s response was another no.

Thus was the lesson that we must use our time in life, because when our time comes, not all the money in the world allows us to live one more minute.

Intro..

Philosophy.. so, what is that? What is that weird topic nobody wants totalk about? No, I'm not taling about how babies come to this world, is something way less complicated, or maybe more, it always depend on how you think about it.
It comes from the greek words phil meaning "love" and sophy meaning "wisdom", so greek people loved wisdom, at least their philosophers are the most remembered people of that culture, or you remember Hestia, well he was the god of the sun, one of the important members of all greeks culture, religion, and of whom depended lots of greek lifes and, at least I, before looking for his name, never imaginede ho was. But what about Aristoteles, Socrates, Pitagoras (you cant tell me you dont remember him after all those math classes), you all know who were them and at least something they said.
Philosophy is just an exotic word that someone invented to refer to a profound thinking about almost anything, any common issue in life, you can mess it up thinking as a philosopher, and many complicated issues, you can solve them by thining the same way, it all depends on what's on you mind in that moment.
Here is where the example of "All i know is I now nothing", a philosophic thought of Socrates. Without thnking about it you could say, well, study something, or, the first step is to accept it, but if you go deeper on the meaning of this phrase you getto the concusion that you cannot have a the knowlage of the universe, there would always be something to learn, it changes don't you think so?
Philosophy is important to study because is a way to learn how to think deeper, and, why should I do that? because everything in this world is way different if you thin two times about it, maby not philosophicly, but at least two times, people are complex as the world surrounding them, from the smallest and simplest particle to the composition of the whole universe is a theme you can think about, and you can reconsider to study it at least this only time, than just let it go as one class more.

To end this paragraph, that maybe you think is boring, ugly and meaningless, or maybe you thin it has something that you had never considered I will give you a reflection I had while I was writting it.
Sophie's World, the book other classes have as text book may not be what you where expecting, because you thin about a girl named sophie and her world, but if you go back to the meaning of philosophy phil and SOPHY you will understand it refers to the world of WISDOM;). Or maybe not and it is about a girl named sophie. I just don't know.

philosophy

Philosophy is a weird term, you can´t define it very well. Ithink we do not use philosophy for our daily life, but it help us to learn to think and question everything. philosophy teach us to analyze things we do every day and we don't realize we don't know the real meaning of things such as death, life, gravity, why do we exist?, why do animals are on earth?, are we the only living things on all the universe?.... and i could continue asking questions that make us think; but it does not really matters. whats the difference if we know why do we exist? it does not really matters we would still be people and thats all , it is not a big deal. but on the other hand of all this kind of dumb questions we could make a really good and intersting question that could change many things such as gravity. philosophy is like the first step to do big things, but for daily thinking it has not a lot of importance. i like philosophy because its intersting to think about things i have never questioned. Now, the ONLY thing i'm sure about is that i know nothing. there are too many things i donn't know that i would change everything i know for all the things i don't know. that´s what philosophy is about.

FIrst post

Since I’m taking this class(philosophy) I have thinking more things because before we have this class, I was like o what a being class i don’t want to take this class because is really being but, since August 10th  I’m looking to philosophy as a really interesting class because  we right now we do not stop in thinking what are we doing or what do we say , and I think we do not take a moment to think about this because we have lots of things that our ancestors do not have like TV or things like that , also I think that we have think less than our ancestors did because has advance to much that we know that most of the questions of the live and all that philosophical questions would be answered in any moment because that’s the work of sciences. In my opinion we are becoming lazy to think and to try to answered questions, and in my personal opinion this few classes  that has passed are beginning to open my mind in thinking what does I’m doing and in give a (mas valor) to things that time ago I didn’t mind so this class, about science and philosophy I think they are like hate and love , because both are really different but in one they need to be joined because the purpose of both is trying to answer questions and both try do it in their particular way but their final goal is the same, just as love and hate they are really separate because are the opposite ends of the rope of feelings, and they are really similar because you love someone because you like him/her and you want to be happy with him and when you hate him/her is because he is also important for you and if you love him/her in the past and you now in present you hate him is because you still love him and you still thinking on him, that’s why I think philosophy and science  they need each others.

Introduction to Philosophy

Is the philosophy needed in our lives?

Before this week, I think that the philosophy was boring, that didn’t tells us anything. But after reading the introduction of the book, now I think that philosophy may be interesting.

The philosophy is something very complex. It’s like the form of view the things. Also it tries to give answers to everything it is around us.

Initially was compared with science, although both are very different. The science explains how things are composed, how works, etc. but philosophy let us think about the things that are around us, how are useful, what represent in our lives, etc.

I hope that this semester we learn more about philosophy, and I hope that is not boring.

Philosophy

The philosophy is always in search of why of things. Not only conforms with the simple answerbut it goes in search of the most complex. The philosophy brings up the essential part of the question and it helps us to keep questioning. It also lookks for the importance for us, what we know and what is happening. Philosophy doesn´t forget any detail, and explains the relationship between meaning and knowledge with each of our lives.
